Brief bio :
Yves Goudineau (Prof.) is director of the French School of Asian Studies, École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO). He holds a chair in “Comparative Anthropology of Southeast Asia” (EFEO-EHESS) and was honorary research fellow at the University of Hong Kong (1997-2001) and visiting professor at the University of Oxford (2008-2011). He has carried out extensive ethnographic fieldwork in the Mekong Region with an interest in ethnohistory and rituals among Austroasiatic ethnic groups. He conducted also research on development issues in Mainland South-East Asia: ethnic minority resettlements, cross-borders relationships. He was the head of the EFEO Centres in Chiang Mai and in Vientiane and has been a regional consultant for UNESCO and UNDP.
